Re: Bug report : zoom factor

    leddt:

Just to let you know, the 0.7.7 update didn't fix the zoom factor problem on my computer.

The app will correctly LOAD "0.8", but will SAVE "0,8" and will later get an error when trying to load "0,8".

Also, even after a successful load of the "0.8" value, the zoom factor is still not applied to the gadget when it's displayed.

Hope that helps, keep it up!

Hmm okay thanks, I'll have to give it another shot maybe tomorrow.  Actually, I think I know where the problem is... should be an easy fix now.  That's strange that it isn't getting applied if it were successfully read - did you change the value to 0.8 in the file?  That should be working.  The zoom does only get applied after the document is loaded, though - and it does seem like on some sites the DocumentCompleted event doesn't first properly.

OK I just tested again. Here are the steps I took :

    1. Exit Start++
    2. Open C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Local\Start++\StartGadgets.xml
    3. Replace the two instances (g and gi) of "0,8" by "0.8" and save
    4. Restart Start++ (everything loads fine)
    5. Open the configuration dialog to make sure that 0,8 is correctly loaded for the two gadgets
    6. Open the start menu and type "gi start++"

See the attached image to see the results

Re: Start++ 0.7 Official Feedback Thread

I got this error while doing a google search...

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Start++ encountered an error. Please report it!"

First time its happened. Running 0.7.8 on Vista home premium. If i type "g ****" i get the links on the menu and these work correctly. It happens when I hit enter to open up the search in a browser. Other than that, brilliant app :)

Re: Bug report : 2 things

    Brandon,

I'm seeing 2 problems since the last update. First, upon startup I get a pop-up with no title saying "The input string was not in a correct format".

Second, none of the play shortcuts work. Each and every oen of them says it couldn't find any matching media. I've got 24 albums by U2 in my media library, so there seems to be something wrong.. I just can't figure out what.

What language / locale is your OS set to?

Those commands don't use the Media Player library, if that's what you mean.  They execute against the search index, so you'll need to make sure your albums are in an indexed location (type "index" into the start menu and you should see the Indexing Options control panel.  Then click "Modify" and then "Show all locations").

Interesting.  I have a work item for myself to go in and make those error messages more helpful.  Hard to say what the problem is without knowing more.  Does it happen every time?

Re: Bug report : 2 things

    Fisrt,

I'm running on an English Vista Ultimate (Dutch language pack is installed, but not used). The current locale is set to nl-NL. The UI is still English.

    Second.

I just checked.  The music folder is part of the indexing locations, but the index only contains 1800 items (and I have 10000+ songs in my library atm). I just hit rebuild and I'll see what happend now. But even though I'm doing quite nothing the status window says that indexing speed is reduced due to user activity.

Is there a way to force an index to rebuild *now* instead of when windows thinks it might be a good time?

     >>>>

Ahhh, found the problem. I had the Power Management settings set to "power savings mode" under the search & indexing option. I had no idea that meant to not search or index whatsoever. After setting this to High Performance and hitting rebuild, my music is being indexed.

Re: Start++ 0.7 Official Feedback Thread - Issues with 0.7.8

    Hi Brandon,

    Love your product.

I installed 0.7.8 the other day after it nagged me for a few days (good to see that that will come off in a new release).

Now it's just not working at all.

I can't get to the configuration screen at all - even if I run it from the start++.exe file nothing displays at all.

my shortcuts only seem to work sometimes, my g search doesn't work at all, and I just looked at your website and it shows that the google searches and lovely iPhone apps should appear in the start menu - they don't work at all either.

I could try uninstalling and reinstalling 0.7.7 but I will just get the nag message again all the time.

Can you give me any suggestion as to how I get 0.7.8 working again? I'm using Vista Enterprise 32bit with no unusual settings, language packs etc.

    Thanks

Re: Start++ 0.7 Official Feedback Thread - Issues with 0.7.8

    Hi Jodie,

Have you tried uninstalling completely and then doing a clean install of 0.7.8?  What happens when you run Start++.exe - is there an error?  Or nothing?  Is it running in the background? (Does it show up in the system tray or in Task Manager?)

Does rebooting your machine make a difference?

Another thing to try would be to uninstall, and then delete the folder at "\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Start++", then reinstall.  That will lose any customizations and settings, but might fix your problem.

Re: Start++ 0.7 Official Feedback Thread - Issues with 0.7.8

Thanks Brandon, I reinstalled and it's working well now. Wow that g search and the weather is really cool now (I even edited it to stay at Syndey's weather). the only thing that doesn't do anything is calc but that's fine. I will add back in my shortcuts now and see how it goes

Re: Start++ 0.7 Official Feedback Thread - Issues with 0.7.8

Cool.  Yeah I think I broke the calc gadget.  I have a pretty big update that's about halfway done so I probably won't do any smaller updates until 0.8 (with local gadget support).

"The input string was not in a correct format"

    Hi Brandon,
with  Start++ 0.7.9.0 I get toaom's error message "The input string was not in a correct format" with every startup or log on, too. I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate German with English language pack installed. My default input language is still German. Is there a known workaround for this issue?

Thx for your great and helpful tool, Brandon!

Re: ?bug: gadgets don't display properly when taskbar is vertical on right edge of screen

Just to share that I have the same issue, running Vista SP1 and Start++ 0.7.9.

Really odd that it works on all other sides on the screen, but the right one.

It seems that just the display is broken, as I can navigate the links and select them pressing enter, but I can't see anything.
